UK DEFENCE CHIEFS: WE CAN’T RULE OUT ALIENS
But ET is ‘no military threat’
MILITARY bosses have refused to rule out the existence of extraterrestrials.
The Ministry of Defence admitted it had been receiving reports of UFO sightings for over 50 years.
But the Government said that because none of them posed a threat to UK security it had “no opinion on the existence of extraterrestrials”.
One senior defence source hit back last night: “The MoD can’t deny the existence of UFOs as there are reports coming in every week, so it tries to fudge the issue by saying no UFOs have posed a military threat.
“It’s interesting that it doesn’t mention anything about UFOs which don’t represent a threat.”
Details of the Government position emerged in a Freedom of Information request. The MoD said: “While I note your interest in Unidentified Aerial Phenomena, you may wish to be aware that the MoD has no opinion on the existence of extraterrestrials.
“This is because, in over 50 years, no UFO sighting reported to the department has indicated the existence of any military threat to the UK.”
It followed a debate in the House of Lords, during which Lord Aamer
Sarfraz referred to a recent report from the US Director of National Intelligence which deemed data on
UFOs was inconclusive.
Lord Sarfraz said it “does not rule out that these could be military aircraft or even extraterrestrial phenomena”. Author Nick Pope, who used to run the government’s UFO Project, called the MoD reply “predictable”.
