Tat’s better Anne-Marie
SINGER INKS THE THERAPY’S WORKED
SHE’S become famous for slogan tattoos but Anne-Marie only has room for two more on her body.
The singer has various words inked in random places, including “Forgiveness” on her shoulder, “Trust” on the back of her leg and “confidence” on her knee. However, Anne-Marie told me: “I just want a couple more, I’ve wanted to get ‘Patience’ because I’m impatient and trying to learn not to be.
“And at some point I want to write ‘We will be OK’ on me.”
Those phrases will go well with the “Why not” she has on her leg.
The 30-year-old said: “All of my tattoos are handwriting from friends and family, what specific people have taught me in life; I put them all in weird places.” Perhaps
Anne-Marie can see an end to tats because she has learned more about herself since discovering therapy.
She even named her new album after it and told me: “Therapy, for me, I always looked outward for happiness and acceptance and after lockdown and a year of not having people around me telling me, ‘You’re OK and doing great’ I had to look within, so it’s been a big journey for me. That’s what the song Therapy means.” She may write pop songs, but it’s always important that they have meaning too. Anne-Marie said: “I always want it to be honest and real, because when I was younger I used to look at those types of songs to help me through stuff, so I know how important music and lyrics can be. “But I know that when I’ve been through something very personal I do have to describe it in a way that other people will relate to it.”
