DIY splits the nation
ONE in 10 people walk out on their partners when a home makeover goes bad, figures reveal.
And while some relationships are patched up,
3% of those quizzed said dodgy home improvements had led to divorce.
Even just painting walls resulted in a partner getting their coat, said 29% of
2,000 couples who took part in the poll by TaskRabbit – which organises handyperson services.
Assembling flat-pack furniture had thrown a spanner in the works for
26% of couples, while gardening had turned 21% of relationships sour.
London couples were worst for DIY-related rows, with those in Southampton least likely to fall out.
A TaskRabbit source told us: “Our poll shows there is a more serious side to DIY when it goes wrong.”
