LOVE Island hunk Jake Cornish says he’s open to rekindling his relationship with Liberty Poole.

The pair sensationally quit the reality show after splitting up.

But hours after leaving the TV villa, Jake has admitted they could still have a future together.

In his only interview, the 24-year-old said: “I can’t just switch feelings off like that, do you know what I mean? I do love the girl. It’s as simple as that.”

Asked if they will date again, he said: “Potentially. Who knows? Never say never. Time is a healer.

“Definitely we’ll keep in contact, even if it was as friends. I’ll always be there for her and she’s been there for me.”

Jake says he is still heartbroken over their split.

He added: “I think it’s just sinking in now. It is a bit of a gut-wrenching feeling.

It’s ended on very good terms, but sad terms. We fell in love with each other.

“It’s almost like a movie. It started off strong, went bad, went strong again, then bad. Will it go strong again on the outside? Who knows.

“I’m over the moon about the fact that we can still talk and can still be friends.”

Jake divided opinion as some fans were convinced he faked the romance for fame and was mean to Liberty, 21.

But he has hit back and insisted he was in the relationship for genuine reasons. He said: “If I was trying to have a game plan, I think I’d still be there, I wouldn’t have left. Actions speak for themselves.

“I’ve stepped aside from the people who have got something good going, so let them enjoy their moment.

“It’s not a nice feeling to think that things I’ve said are coming across [as me] trying to make someone change. I’m not.

“Liberty is Lib. That’s the girl I fell in love with. I’m not trying to change her.

Jake, of Weston-super-Mare, added: “I’ve been honest throughout. But everyone’s entitled to their opinion.”
