Parky will take emu to grave
INTERVIEW king Michael Parkinson reckons his epitaph will be “attacked by a bloody emu”.
He was referring to his infamous run-in with Rod Hull’s puppet character on his BBC chat show.
Parky, 86, said: “Being attacked by a bloody emu – what an epitaph.”
He was looking back at the Parkinson show to mark 50 years since it first aired – and said he especially enjoyed interviewing Hollywood actresses.
Michael said: “My face made it clear when I fancied the woman opposite me – Lauren Bacall, Liz Taylor, Sophia Loren…”
But he regrets an interview with Helen Mirren when he asked if her “physical attributes” hindered her desire to be considered a “serious actress”.
He added: “I plead guilty to being sexist.”
