Get those hankies at the ready – yes, it’s time for another tear-jerking episode (is there any other kind?) of this hugely popular series, hosted by Davina McCall and Nicky Campbell, whose sensitivity in difficult circumstances will certainly be needed again tonight.

The first emotional story features Louise Stoppani, who discovered at the age of seven that the man who was bringing her up was not her birth father. Now she wants to trace her biological dad, but the search will prove to be far from easy.

Then it’s the turn of Jonathan Gaskarth to take centre stage. He was adopted at just six weeks old and only recently decided to search for his biological parents following the break-up of his marriage. But is he really prepared for what lies ahead?
