TV reboots are all the rage, but some viewers may be surprised that Gossip Girl, the hit drama charting the lives of Manhattan’s upper class teens, is back so soon – after all, the original run only ended in 2012.

However, a lot has changed in those nine years. Social media is more prevalent, making the original show’s blog seem positively quaint. We’re promised that’s not the only new element introduced to the relaunched series. There’s also a brand new cast, including Jordan Alexander, Whitney Peak and Tavi Gevinson, although Kristen Bell is reprising her role as the narrator.

In the opening episode, the students return to their New York private school after the Covid-19 pandemic to discover an unfamiliar face and a mysterious presence.
