In a r undabout way, I’m Britain’s most boring man
BRITAIN’S “dullest” man has created a calendar featuring the nation’s best roundabouts.
Kevin Beresford has travelled all over and photographed thousands of them.
The 69-year-old – president of the Roundabout Appreciation Society – spent hours with other members debating which should make the final selection.
An island in Brownhills, West Midlands, made the cover page.
Kevin said: “Roundabouts are an oasis in a sea of tarmac.
“They give councils a perfect opportunity to plonk a garden in the middle of the road – and the British love their gardens.
“And they are greener, more efficient and prettier than traffic lights.
“There are so many opportunities with roundabouts too, they can include all sorts of things like paintings and statues.
“There is a 90% reduction in fatalities when using a roundabout over traffic lights.
“They are more efficient in terms of emissions too.”
Kevin added: “And they are quintessentially English – it’s all about manners, queuing and choosing a gap in the traffic ”
He hopes to sell more than 2,000 calendars, which cost £10 each and include roundabouts in Bath, Cardiff, Basingstoke and Southport.
Last year, we revealed that boring Kevin, from Redditch, Worcs, also loves car parks and compiled his favourite ones to make a calendar.
He spent a decade photographing car parks and has launched the Car Park Appreciation Society for other like-minded individuals.
So far, Kevin is its only member.
