Zemura’s a double threat for Cherries
SCOTT PARKER joked he thought Jordan Zemura’s goal target was over the top before the Bournemouth left-back bagged his first professional strikes.
Zemura used an interview in the match programme to reveal he was targeting three finishes in the first half of the campaign.
And the Zimbabwe international is two-thirds of the way there after a fine double in a comfortable victory over Barnsley.
“I saw that in his notes and thought it was ambitious,” said Cherries boss Parker. “But he’s right on track now.
“To be fair I expect that of him especially with the way we play with our full-backs. I expect him to be assisting and scoring.
“It is what we ask of our full-backs.
“He’s banged two today so that is perfect.”
Zemura opened the scoring in the eighth minute after a lightningquick counter attack.
Dominic Solanke celebrated his fifth goal of the season, following a clanger from keeper Brad Collins, before hotshot Zemura, 21, waltzed through the Tykes defence to keep up Bournemouth’s unbeaten start to the season.
Barnsley manager Markus Schopp felt his side got off lightly by only conceding three goals against the in-form Cherries.
He said: “In the end for them only to get three goals is a good result!
“We started perfect but when you aren’t clinical enough then it turns to the other team.”
