Ayling keen to improve goal celebrations

LUKE AYLING admits he’ll have to brush up on his goal celebrations after his dramatic late strike in Leeds’ amazing 3-2 win at Wolves.

The right-back fired home from close range as Jesse Marsch’s side rose from the dead to clinch a vital win after trailing 2-0 at the break.

Jack Harrison and Rodrigo scored before Ayling, 30, secured a second successive victory to lift Leeds seven points clear of the relegation zone.

However, the defender’s attempts at a Robbie Keane-style cartwheel goal celebration did not quite go to plan.

Ayling said: “I tried to do the Robbie Keane celebration but I couldn’t land the cartwheel, which was a bit disappointing… I’ll have to work on that!

“But it’s a massive three points and the boys are buzzing.

“It’s huge for us to put a bit of daylight between ourselves and the bottom three.

“The teams down there have got games in hand, though, so we will just have to sit back and see what happens with those.

“We need to keep trying to build on these results and how we’ve been playing because I think we’ve been playing well since the new gaffer came in.”

After replacing the legendary Marcelo Bielsa last month, Marsch’s positivity has stopped the rot and restored belief, although Leeds do nothing the easy way.

Four of the American’s players went off injured at Molineux on Friday night with the second-half dismissal of Wolves striker Raul Jimenez a huge turning point.

A 50-50 collision with Illan Meslier saw the goalkeeper limp off to join a casualty list which also included Patrick Bamford, Diego Llorente and Mateusz Klich.

Yet Marsch said: “I think they’re all okay. With a two-week break now, we just need to physically and mentally recover.

“It couldn’t have come at a better time for us

really.”
