TOMORROW’S OTHER GAMES... Gomes promises Tykes still battling

- BARNSLEY v PETEROBROUGH MILLWALL v HULL

3pm

CLAUDIO GOMES insists rock-bottom Barnsley will keep fighting as they host relegation rivals Peterborough.

The Tykes will slide down into League One tomorrow if they do not win and Reading beat Swansea at home.

On-loan Manchester City midfielder Gomes (above), who scored his first career goal in the 1-1 draw against the Swans on Friday, insisted: “We keep fighting until the end. I am proud to get my first goal but I would prefer to win.”

Roo aiming to be a have-a-go hero

WAYNE ROONEY still believes Derby can produce a footballing miracle by beating the drop.

Prospective new owner Chris Kirchner saw the Rams beat leaders Fulham 2-1 on Friday and Rooney (above) said: “We will give it a go. We know we are a good enough team to win matches so we will do everything to make it happen.”

Rangers boss Mark Warburton’s contract expires at the end of the season and appears unlikely to be renewed. He said: “We will try to win four games, get to 72 points total and see where it takes us.”

BLACKPOOL v BIRMINGHAM

3pm Lee leaving it late to pick his keeper

BIRMINGHAM boss Lee Bowyer has yet to decide who will play in goal against Blackpool.

First-choice keeper Neil Etheridge was injured in the recent defeat at Nottingham Forest. His replacement, Zach Jeacock, let in four against Coventry City on Good Friday and Bowyer (above) will check on Etheridge before deciding who goes between the sticks.

Blackpool boss Neil Critchley wants his side to stop conceding injury-time goals. “It’s happened too many times to us,” he said.

Goal star Joao all set to Swan back

PAUL INCE is confident Lucas Joao will be fit to face Swansea, after he was forced off during the dramatic 2-1 Good Friday win at Sheffield United.

Joao scored the Royals’ opening goal but picked up a hamstring strain and was replaced late on.

Yet Ince (above), whose side lie on the brink of safety, said: “We had to take a precaution with the game on Monday, but he should be OK for that.”

Swansea are coasting towards a mid-table finish but boss Russell Martin said: “We’re still unbeaten in six games.”
