April, Rhona and the Dingles prepare for Marlon’s return. Everyone is thrilled, with April putting up decorations and Mary assuring Rhona she’ll support her during his recovery. But things soon become chaotic.
When April helps Marlon have a drink, he chokes. Panicking, she calls for Rhona and he despairs at the stress the family is under. He’s sure he should return to the hospital – but can April persuade him to stay?
Meanwhile, Rhona gets a buzz helping out at the vets and suggests working part-time to bring in more money after Marlon finds out he’ll have to go on statutory sick pay.
Elsewhere, Jai stands by HOP staff in their strike against Kim’s zero-hour contract idea. Impressed, Laurel decides they should get back together – then drugs are found with his wallet and Kim threatens to fire him.
And Marcus and Ethan move in together. As they toast the future, Ethan gets good news about his job – but he’s called to the station to see Jordan, who is accused of assaulting Billy.
It’s a rough week for Max, who veers from one disaster to another. Daniel reveals that Max shared Nicky’s images around the school. And with her life in tatters, plus nowhere to live, the future looks bleak for Nicky, so Daniel goes to her aid.
After offering her a place to stay, he sees Max in the street and has a go at him for causing trouble. He also threatens to tell Amy it was
Max who spiked her drink.
Despite thinking Daniel is bluffing, Max contemplates coming clean. Later, feeling the weight of the world
Kat is left shaken when a smoke bomb is thrown into the house and tells Stacey who she thinks is behind it. However, Ben gives her a talking to, telling her she’s not up to being a Mitchell – which leads her to throw Sam out as she tries to move in.
Meanwhile, Harvey rages at Jean when he finds out how much she’s spent on the wedding. He asks her to cancel everything and turns to Mitch and Rocky, unaware Jean’s is on his shoulders, he smashes the barber shop window but cuts his leg on the glass and collapses. Will he be found in time? Meanwhile, Carla’s decision to give Jacob a job at the factory drives a wedge between her and Simon. He’s furious and accuses Carla of being disloyal. In a rage, he also publicly shames Jacob for his past. Also this week, Leanne upsets Toyah when she tells her she thinks the wedding is happening too quickly. After a clash, Toyah says she doesn’t want Leanne at the ceremony. already got her extravagant dress. Stacey begs Harvey not to move to Southend – and not to marry Jean.
But things go from bad to worse when Jean puts on her gown and heads off alone to Southend. Stacey and Martin manage to track her down just in time. Can Jean get help?
