Pearson’s boys in mood for a party
NIGEL PEARSON hailed his potent strike-force after Bristol City turned their final home game of a frustrating campaign into party time.
Chris Martin, Antoine Semenyo and Andreas Weimann ripped Hull to shreds, sharing the goals between them to have Robins fans dreaming of what might be next season.
Pearson said: “It’s always good to have goals in a side and our front three are a threat to anyone. They are playing at their maximum every week at the moment and doing very well.
“We are a counterattacking side, who create a lot of chances for them and the finishing today was top class.”
Weimann took advantage of keeper Nathan Baxter’s rash advance to the edge of his box to fire his 21st goal of the season in the sixth minute.
Semenyo raced through to slot the second in the 33rd minute and before Hull could recover provided the low cross for Martin to make it 3-0 at the far post.
It was a similar story in the second half, with Martin breaking clear to beat Baxter and Weimann capping a slick team performance with an impudent 82nd-minute chip.
Hull boss Shota Arveladze said: “It was a terrible game, terrible result and terrible performance.
“The only positive came from our supporters, who really stuck behind the team right until the final whistle.”
