TAKE A LOOK AT MY NUKES

Vlad missiles in Red Square

- ■ by JOHN WARD john.ward@dailystar.co.uk

VLADIMIR Putin rolled his nuclear missiles through Moscow’s Red Square to prepare for tomorrow’s Victory Day parade.

The tyrant is thought to be planning to use the annual celebration of the defeat of Nazi Germany to announce victory in Ukraine.

Under his leadership, the day has been turned from a solemn time of remembrance into a chestbeating show of nationalist pride and military power

The thermonuclear RS-24 Yars ballistic missile took centre stage at the rehearsals as it was driven past rows of armed troops.

The intercontinental weapon is capable of hitting targets up to 12,000km away – meaning it could strike London

or New York within minutes.

Eight MiG-29 fighters also flew past in a “Z” formation – the letter used by Putin’s military as a symbol of its action in Ukraine.

Putin is set to parade 500 captured fighters – including three Britons – for the cameras, according to sources.

Aiden Aslin, 28, and Shaun Pinner, 48, were seized by Russian forces in besieged Mariupol last month while they were fighting alongside Ukrainians defending the city.

The pair, who had both lived in Ukraine for some time, were paraded on Russian television after being held when a large number of fighters surrendered.

A third British fighter, Andrew Hill, was also detained in Russia and a video surfaced showing the father of four, from Plymouth, being interrogated.

Last night, Ukrainian soldiers prepared to make their last stand in the port city of Mariupol.

Ukraine’s deputy prime minister Iryna Vereshchuk said all women, children and old people have been evacuated from the huge Azovstal steel works.

While first deputy interior minister Yevhen Yenin warned the symbolic date of Victory Day is like “red to a bull” for Putin, who desperately needs a victory.
