Mit’s up ALEKS STINGS BEES AT DEATH

- AT CRAVEN COTTAGE

ALEKSANDAR MITROVIC headed in a dramatic late winner for Fulham as Brentford suffered a Manchester United hangover.

The Bees looked like United did last weekend in a woeful defensive display but they battled back from 2-0 down before Mitrovic’s superb late effort.

Bobby Decordova-Reid netted after just 45 seconds before Joao Palhinha headed home in the 20th minute.

Christian Norgaard volleyed one back just before the break and Ivan Toney appeared to be giving Brentford a share of the West London derby spoils with a second-half leveller until Mitrovic’s late show.

The Cottagers immediately took the lead thanks to below-par Brentford defending. Jay Stansfield saw an effort deflected onto the woodwork off Ben Mee on his first league appearance and DecordovaReid was on hand to bundle home.

Brentford simply failed to wake up. Mitrovic fired straight at David Raya after a Stansfield burst.

Then Mitrovic was denied a goal by an offside flag, before seeing a volley deflect wide from the impressive Andreas Pereira’s corner.

There was absolutely no surprise at all when Pereira’s beautiful corner was met by Palhinha’s head with the Bees defence all over the place again.

And it could have been three, with Raya denying Mitrovic with his legs following Pereira’s pass.

Out of nowhere, the Bees were back in it a minute before the break as Norgaard volleyed in from Mathias Jensen’s corner.

And they were unlucky early in the second half when Toney harshly had an effort chalked off for offside.

Toney got his goal 19 minutes from the end as he found the net from Yoane Wissa’s cross.

But Fulham finished strongly and big Serb Mitrovic powered home a last-minute header as Craven Cottage erupted.
