Schedule for day of the funeral

6.30am: The Queen’s Lying in State will close to the public. 8am: The gates to Westminste­r Abbey will open to the congregati­on.

10.30am: The Queen’s coffin will be carried by a 123-year-old gun carriage from Westminste­r Hall, towed by 98 Royal Navy ratings. 10.44am: The King, members of the Royal Family, members of the King’s Household and Household of the Prince of Wales will follow the coffin to Westminste­r Abbey.

10.52am: Procession will arrive at the West Gate of Westminste­r Abbey, where the bearer party will lift the coffin and carry it inside.

11am: The Service will begin. The Dean of Westminste­r will lead the service, and PM Liz Truss and SecretaryG­eneral of the Commonweal­th Patricia Scotland will give readings. 11:55am: The Last Post will sound followed by a national two-minute silence.

12pm: Reveille, the National Anthem and a lament, played by the Queen’s Piper, will bring the service to an end. The coffin will then be carried to the State Gun Carriage. 12:15pm: The procession to Wellington Arch begins.

1pm: The procession, led by the King, will arrive at Wellington Arch. The coffin will be placed in the State Hearse and carried to Windsor. 3.06pm: The hearse will arrive at Windsor, and join the procession. 3.53pm: The procession will halt outside St George’s Chapel and the coffin will be carried inside.

4pm: The Committal service will begin.

7.30pm: A private burial service will be conducted by the Dean of Windsor.

The Queen will be laid to rest with her late husband, Prince Philip, alongside her father King George VI and the Queen Mother.
