Tom at the double to make dad’s life more comfortable

- By ROBERT DUNFORD

PAUL INCE felt Reading dealt well with being rare favourites, as they beat struggling Blackpool.

Two goals from Tom Ince and an Andy Carroll penalty made it comfortable, despite a late Sonny Carey effort.

The Royals boss said: “It was probably the first time I felt the expectation was to win, and it’s not really something you associate with Reading.

“We never looked like we were under any pressure, but I felt the second goal for once meant I could breathe easier.

“The only disappointing thing was in the first half not killing the game off.”

Ince Jr gave Reading the perfect start in the 12th minute, when his shot came off Jordan Thorniley.

Blackpool started the second half brighter but were undone twice in the space of four minutes.

Curtis Nelson fouled Yakou Meite in the box and Carroll sent Chris Maxwell the wrong way from the spot.

Ince netted his second when Nelson put a clearance in his path, after another Meite run and shot.

Carey netted in injury time with a consolation effort, leaving Blackpool four points off safety.

Seasiders boss Mick McCarthy said: “I’m really pleased with the start of both halves but I’m pretty depressed at the goals we’ve given away.

“The mentality is fine, we started well, but it’s making mistakes and getting punished for it.”
