Inept Coco is so clever in theory

-

WE all love a good conspiracy theory…

Did they put man on the Moon, or was it filmed on a Hollywood sound stage?

Who killed JFK? Was it Lee Harvey Oswald or was it the CIA?

Was Princess Diana killed on the orders of the Queen?

Is the world flat? Sorry, I kid – I’m not completely crazy.

There is something fascinating about the possibility there could be more to events than what we’re being told.

Most of the time it’s harmless speculation that makes for great pub chat.

But there is a more sinister set of conspiracies being peddled by grifters who profit from the nonsense they spread.

Take, for example, the growing trend online that claims the war in Ukraine is fake. Sky News reporter Stuart Ramsay, inset, was shot as he covered the war. He says that due to misinformation spread online, even people in his own family doubt whether it actually happened.

And then there are those hell-bent on suggesting that every untimely death on the planet was caused by the Covid vaccine. Or that billionaire Bill

Gates has put microchips in the jabs so that those in power can control our every move.

Some claims are even madder.

In the old days, when the likes of David Icke reckoned he was the son of God and claimed the Royal Family were bloodsucking alien lizards, they were viewed as figures of fun.

But now these wackos are getting a platform – and have massive online followings.

Just be careful what you believe. The crux of these theories is that there is a sinister higher power at work, secretly pulling the strings.

That would suggest that those in charge are highly intelligent.

But if Matt “Coco” Hancock’s leaked WhatsApp messages are anything to go by, all the Covid policies were rushed out by a bunch of bungling idiots.

And for me, that is far scarier than even the most terrifying conspiracies you will find online.
