Neil sees Warn-ing signs as ‘sloppy’ Sky Blues cruise
NEIL WARNOCK surveyed the wreckage of a disastrous defeat for his Huddersfield strugglers – and admitted: “Staying up will be a big ask.”
Old warhorse Warnock presided over a spirited 2-1 home win over Birmingham in his first game in charge.
But after last week’s 4-0 pasting at Burnley, this latest surrender left the Terriers rock-bottom – a whopping seven points from safety. Viktor
Gyokeres scored twice for the rampant Sky Blues with Gustavo Hamer and Tyler Walker also on target.
Asked whether Town can survive, Warnock said: “It’s a monumental challenge.
“We’ve got to win on Tuesday (against Bristol
City) but I don’t think you should ever give up.”
The Terriers shot themselves in the foot when Michal Helik allowed Gyokeres to nip in and fire home Coventry’s 31st-minute opener.
Ten minutes into the second half, more errors led to Hamer blasting home at the near post.
When Gyokeres added a third, many home fans marched out of the ground in disgust. The highly-rated Swede, who now has 18 goals this season, then crossed for sub Walker to fire home a late fourth.
Coventry boss Mark Robins said: “I thought Huddersfield lacked confidence and were there for the taking.
“We were a bit sloppy, but we did enough.”
