DANNY’S JOY

Star man Walker stings Giants

DARYL POWELL saluted Danny Walker’s display but was hardly buzzing about his Warrington side’s return to winning ways.

Walker’s man-of-the-match display included a try and an assist for huge forward Sam Kasiano.

But while the Giants struggled to keep tabs on the hooker (right, with George Williams), a second-half insect sting slowed him down.

“I don’t know if it was a bee or a wasp,” said Wolves head coach Powell. “I didn’t even realise he’d been stung.

“It just looked like he was struggling so I ended up making the change, but it was a phenomenal performance.

“He kicks a 40-20, sets up the first try and scores a try with his support play. He is a little dynamo and has great leadership skills. I just think he is going to prosper and get better.”

outcome in doubt. After fighting back the Giants conceded a soft fifth try to full-back Matt Dufty. Tui Lolohea’s breakaway score ensured a nervy last seven minutes for the hosts but they held on. Huddersfield coach Ian Watson said: “It was a proper mixed bag. “We have got to stick together. We are going through a sticky phase which we need to learn from and get better from.” George Williams beat a sickness bug to touch down in the first half for Wolves while winger Josh Thewlis scored a 90m breakaway.
