Robins and Co are ready Maid for shot at Wembley

-

MARK ROBINS has warned Maidstone United they aren’t the only ones seeking FA Cup glory.

Coventry City’s boss – a winner of the competition with Manchester United – is treating tomorrow’s opponents as if they are also playing in the Championship.

Robins watched one half of the National League South side’s victory over Ipswich live on TV and says they deserve their shot in the fifth round. But he maintains they aren’t the only ones looking to do something special.

“This is different from trying to get three points,” he said.

“The bottom line is you are in a knockout competition that gets you somewhere near Wembley if you get through – because who you play in the next round could be really, really interesting.

“If everyone isn’t already thinking about that, maybe it should be in the back of their minds.”

Robins has been involved in the game for almost four decades as a player and manager and doesn’t need reminding of the script.

He added: “We’ve had a lot of media interest and you’re all talking to me because there’s a chance of a giant-killing.

“It happens all the time and they played brilliantly against Ipswich.

“They have a really infectious, enthusiastic manager in George Elokobi and the players get that from him.

“While any team is on the same pitch as you, they’ll be on the same level as you and you have to make that count. They’ve got nothing to lose – but neither do we.

“We’ll just get on with it, plan for it as normal, prepare for it as normal and hopefully that will be enough to put in a really good performance.”
