Tuf gets going for Rosenior

- TWO EASY: LIZ BYRNES

LIAM ROSENIOR praised his “streetwise” Tigers after they revived their slim play-off hopes with a dominant win against QPR.

Ozan Tufan opened the scoring, cutting inside before curling the ball past Asmir Begovic and in off the underside of the bar.

Tufan then turned provider, threading the ball through for Fabio Carvalho who got ahead of the defence and finished past the keeper.

Half-time sub Paul Smyth was inches away from halving the deficit and QPR were made to pay when Hull got their third.

Jaden Philogene fired a low volley across the keeper and into the net. It leaves the Tigers six points behind Norwich in sixth with four matches to play and a game in hand on the Canaries.

Rosenior said: “We were really clinical and ruthless and the players showed their quality in key moments and showed really good moments of defending as well and a resilience to our game.

“A couple of professional fouls as well – which I probably shouldn’t say – but I liked because it showed steeliness and a bit of being streetwise which I think we’ve lacked at times.”

Defeat leaves QPR in 19th, three points above the relegation zone.

Head coach Marti Cifuentes said: “They scored a quality goal and it’s a game-changer. Some moments they were better than us. We were quite good and the difference was in the box. We just need to keep on working.”
