FALLOUT BOOST FROM TV SHOW

-

FALLOUT 4 was Europe’s best-selling game last week.

It’s not surprising – the Amazon Prime TV show has clearly boosted sales.

As reported by Games Industry.biz Fallout 4 (released in 2015) saw an increase of more than

7,500% compared to the previous week.

But it wasn’t just Fallout 4, as numerous games in the series have seen their player counts dramatically rise following the release of the acclaimed TV show.

The multiplayerfocused Fallout 76 jumped from 13,000 players to 39,455.

Much older titles also saw increases. Fallout: New Vegas went from around 5,000 to 19,505 players, while Fallout 3: Game Of The Year Edition went from around 1,000 to a peak of 6,731 the same day.

Even the somewhat limited (but very enjoyable) Fallout Shelter game had reason to celebrate.

Data shows that daily revenue for the mobile spin-off rose from just over $20,000 on April 10 (the day the show debuted) to $80,000 by April 13.

Similarly, downloads per day increased from around 20,000 to over 60,000 within the same three days.

Suffice to say, the series is having a huge renaissance. The only drawback is that given the speed with which Bethesda tends to work, we wouldn’t be surprised if the next game in the series (Fallout 5) doesn’t arrive until 2030 at the earliest.
