SO CLOSE: Frank Lampard heads narrowly wide late on in Kiev FRANK LAMPARD has told the critics to judge England after the World Cup qualifying campaign has finished.

Roy Hodgson’s England have come in for plenty of stick in the wake of their goalless stalemate in Ukraine on Tuesday night.

Hodgson’s men found themselves on the back foot for long spells before managing to hang on for what could prove to be a vital point in World Cup qualificat­ion.

England top Group H with two home qualifiers remaining next month.

Lampard has told Hodgson’s detractors to reserve their judgement on England until the final two games have been and gone.

The Chelsea midfielder, who won his 100th cap in Kiev, said: “A win would have been better, but a point is a good result. They are a very good

“We have to believe in ourselves that we can go and do it next month.

“I don’t know about the critics – it doesn’t matter too much. I think the answer will be after the next two games.

“We will be stronger when the injured players come back because you want to choose from all your fit players.

“Unfortunat­ely, generally there will always be a couple of injured players at any stage in an England squad of 24 or whatever.

“The team has to react and get results, like we did in Ukraine.

“We all know how difficult these games are, when you come away in competitio­n football in the group games.

“Of course, we wanted to win the game but you have to dig in sometimes and we did that in the second half, for sure.

“If we go on to qualify, we can look back on it as a very important point, for sure.”
