Bale not fit to start his Real career

-

FRESH ORDERS: Bale’s new boss Carlo Ancelotti

From Back Page he was greeted by his new team-mates, including Bernabeu superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.

The 24-year-old finally got on the pitch on Tuesday night for Wales in his first competitive action in eight weeks.

But according to Wales boss Coleman, Bale’s 32-minute cameo at the end of a dismal 3-0 defeat to Serbia simply proved he is nowhere near match fit.

He said: “If Gareth starts at the weekend, he won’t finish the game – I’d be amazed if he does.

“He was shattered after 15 minutes. We have looked at him over the last 10 days and he is nowhere near ready to complete 90 minutes.

“On the back of the time he played with us and three or four training sessions, he may start, he REAL DEAL: Bale gets warm in training may get 45 minutes. He feels better after playing, but he’s only had four training sessions in two months and that is dangerous.”

Bale scored 31 goals for club and country last season and Madrid have bought him to create a double attacking threat on opposite wings to Ronaldo.

But even if he plays, Bale may be pressed into action at left-back because of injuries to Fabio Coentrao and Marcelo.

Wales are looking at the fallout from their first taste of having the world’s most expensive player in their squad – including security issues after he was confronted by pitch invaders at half-time in Macedonia last week.

However, Bale has told Welsh FA officials that he doesn’t want extra security around him in the hope that the fuss will soon die down.

Meanwhile, Wales will press ahead with plans to give manager Coleman a new contract, despite two defeats and an abysmal home performance against Serbia.

Coleman said: “I am a better manager now for the experience I have had, and I would not want to walk away from this group of players because they will also learn from this campaign and be better in the next one.”
