Champ Fury’s father is jailed

FAMILY: Tyson and John THE dad of British heavyweight boxing champ Tyson Fury has been jailed for 11 years for gouging a man’s eye out.

John Fury, 46, declared himself the country’s toughest man moments before shoving his finger into Oathie Sykes’ eye after a 12-year feud over a bottle of beer.

Mr Sykes, 44, was left half-blind by Fury, who personally steered his son Tyson, 22, to the British heavyweight title last year.

The victim told Manchester Crown Court he believed Fury wanted to completely blind him in the attack at British Car Auctions in Belle Vue, Manchester.

Mr Sykes said: “He was gouging and poking and twisting and poking.

“All of a sudden I heard this sound, a clicking, popping noise and when| he took his hand away I realised blood was in his hand, a lot of blood.”

The two men had been pals but had a violent bust-up over a bottle of beer in Cyprus in 1999.

Former bare-knuckle fighter Fury admitted wounding with intent to cause grievous harm.
