DEVASTATED David Walliams was still wearing his wedding ring yesterday, despite splitting from his wife Lara Stone after five years of marriage.

DEVASTATED David Walliams was still wearing his wedding ring yesterday following reports he had split from wife Lara Stone.

The couple are refusing to discuss any details of their break-up but it is understood they have agreed to a trial separation.

Little Britain star David, 43, looked downcast as he left the couple’s London home.

Dutch model Lara, 31, is understood to have moved out with their two-year-old son Alfred and pet dog Bertie.

Yesterday, through a solicitor, they asked for privacy for the sake of their little boy.

However, Walliams refused to let his private troubles interfere with his business commitments.

The funnyman tweeted that he had gone off to film a sketch for Comic Relief with “legend’’ Ronnie Corbett, 84.

And Walliams, who is also a successful children’s author, announced he was still pressing ahead with his schools book tour today as he didn’t want to let the youngsters down. He posted a message to his 1.4million fans, saying: “The #WalliamsWhirlwind helicopter tour of schools for @WorldBookDayUK will go ahead as planned so not to disappoint my young fans.”

Pals are in shock about the breakdown of the five-year marriage.

One said: “We don’t think it’s over. We certainly are not aware that anyone else is involved. This could just be a blip.

“They clearly want time out to see whether the marriage can be saved.”

David and Lara have not been seen out and about much in the past six months.

The last time they were seen in public together was when they attended 67-yearold Elton John’s wedding to David Furnish, 52, back in December.

In January, Lara appeared in an ad with Justin Bieber for Calvin Klein.

The pop star, 21, even asked her for a date but she turned him down.

Afterwards Walliams mocked up a spoof version of the advert putting his head on Bieber’s topless body and tweeted about the ad campaign: “Why has someone photoshopped @justinbieber’s head on to what is clearly my body?”
