EAGLE TO GO SKY HIGH

- By JIM AUSTIN

SIZZLERS EAGLE (9.40, nap) can avenge his weekend defeat at Hove tonight.

It was Whileyouwait who came out on top on Sunday but the form may well be turned on its head in their re-match over 285 metres.

Derek Knight’s in-form dog won on merit that afternoon but Sizzlers Eagle was having his first race for six weeks and DRUMENA MEAN IT FARKLAND DIAMOND STRAIGHT EDGE JASONS BELLE CUIL ROCKET CHAOTIC STAR PEGGY WELLS MOLLYS BONNIE SUNBURN NYLA EDSON EMMAS STAR

OF THE RACING POST did look a little rusty. Put it this way, normally when Norah McEllistrim’s wide leads over this two-bend distance, it’s game, set and match. Four days ago, he weakened in the home straight.

The run will have brought him on a bundle though and, with Whileyouwait having potential hazards either side, the trap-six runner can flash out and maintain the gallop this time.

An on-song Bubbly Gold would have his 515m rivals for breakfast, but he has not raced since being turned over here at even-money in November.

A speedy recent trial suggests he is ready to do himself justice, but even so he looks for opposing at the odds, with the never-say-die approach from OLD GRAND DOG (9.56) appealing as an each-way play.

Seamus Cahill’s CROSSFIELD CHAMP (10.26) is hard to get away from in the 475m nightcap.

He is potentially the decent open-race dog in a field of graders and should win if the occasion doesn’t get to him.

Another fancied to carry the five-jacket to a debut success is UNDERGROUND STAR (9.06) in the second heat of the Coral Thursday Maiden.

I don’t expect the outside traps to get much of a look-in at Newcastle.

DRUMENA MEAN IT (6.39) and SUNBURN (8.47) both have the inside rail to help them make all.

JASONS BELLE (7.27, nap), PEGGY WELLS (8.14) and MOLLYS BONNIE (8.31) are others you should not oppose. 7.31 7.46
