everything you need to take you to the next level so there’s no excuses.”

City have stumped up an initial £45m for Sterling with £4m in add-ons.

But Sterling insists the hefty price-tag, £14m more than t£35m Liverpool paid for Andy Carroll in 2011, will not weigh heavily on his shoulders.

“You don’t think about things like that,” Sterling told City’s website.

“Things have come really fast in the last couple of years.

“I’ve just had to learn to take it all in my stride but I never imagined I’d be at this point at the age I am now, breaking a transfer record fee.”

Sterling turned down a £100,000-a-week contract to stay at Anfield.

But he would not be drawn on talk of a rift with Brendan Rodgers and thanked the Liverpool boss for aiding his development.

He added: “I’d like to thank Brendan Rodgers for giving me a chance and an opportunity in the first team, giving me my full debut – against City.

“And giving me a real chance to cement a place in the first team and show the world my talents.”

Sterling, who will wear No.7, will fly to Australia for the club’s tour.

He is in line to make his debut in the frienldy against Roma at the Melbourne Cricket Ground next Tuesday.

Sterling was hailed as one of the world’s best players by new boss Manuel Pellegrini.

He said: “Raheem is one of the best attacking players in world football.

“He is a young player with outstanding ability.”
