GET YER KILT ON BUBBA

- By IAIN MacFARLANE

BUBBA WATSON could be bouncing around St Andrews on Sunday with the Claret Jug – wearing a kilt and scoffing pizza.

The fun-loving Yank (right) let his hair down after America’s Ryder Cup defeat by Europe last September.

And the two-time Masters champ famously toasted his success at Augusta by partying at a waffle house.

Now big-hitting Watson has confessed his outfit and celebratory meal if he wins on Sunday could once again be a little off-the-wall. When asked what it would take for him to pull on Scotland’s national dress, Watson said with a grin: “I don’t know if you ever look at social media, but when we lost the Ryder Cup me, Rickie, Sergio and Rory all wore kilts in the team room.

“I hate to say but I had underwear on under mine. Some other guys did not! I didn’t take much persuasion, I just put it on.

“I noticed there’s a Domino’s Pizza across the street here. I haven’t seen a McDonald’s yet and I know from past experience there’s a Subway – so something easy.”

Left-hander Watson also joked that guests in the Old Course Hotel could be in danger on the 17th because he struggles to hit the ball in a straight line.

Watson, who has missed the cut in three of his six Opens, said: “My line is over the hotel. Depending on what club I hit, I don’t want to hit the windows!”
