A LOVE rat conned nearly £500,000 out of lonely women he met on an internet dating site.

Nigerian Tosin Femi Olasemo, 27, pretended to be an American army officer serving in Afghanistan to defraud the two victims.

Olasemo, of Cardiff, created false profiles on the match.com dating website using pictures of US servicemen in uniform.

Cardiff Crown Court heard that he convinced the victims he needed money to organise leave from the war zone.

Olasemo pleaded guilty to fraud and was jailed for four-and-a-half years. He also faces deportation when he is released.
