PREM LEAGUE Lewis ready to Grab big chance

Star’s charm offensive

- By PETER LAYTON

BAD boy Lewis Grabban wants to continue being Norwich’s lucky charm.

Grabban scored his first goal of the season after being recalled for his first league start since the opening game of the season.

The 27-year-old striker was axed and fined after refusing to be a substitute in a cup tie at Rotherham at the end of August.

But his goal in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Arsenal kept up his remarkable record for the Canaries.

Norwich are unbeaten in the last 24 games he has scored, winning 19 and drawing five.

Grabban said: “I was given my chance again against Arsenal and I took it, so I’m very happy.

“I have been out of the team for a while, so scoring on my comeback was very nice, a bit of a relief.

“It’s been frustrating being out of the side because the worst thing for any footballer is not to be playing. But this puts all of that in the past and now hopefully we can all move forward.

“It was just nice to be celebrating a goal again with the rest of the lads and all the fans.”

Grabban walked out of the team hotel on the day of the cup game in a bid to force through a £6m return to former club Bournemouth.

But Neil blocked the deal and Grabban reacted angrily, storming out and catching the train back to Norwich.

Neil banned him for a week and fined him two weeks’ wages, but Grabban insists it’s all water under the bridge.

He said: “The manager has been fine with me and I have just been working hard to get back into the team.

“Hopefully the fans are over all that now as well and if there was still something in their minds, then this should help them to move on.

“I was in a difficult situation, but hopefully now I have done enough to earn myself another chance.”
