ARMED police will be told to step over casualties and take out terrorists if Paris-style suicide attackers strike in Britain.

ARMED police will be ordered to step over casualties to shoot terrorist gunmen.

Officers are being trained to ignore wounded members of the public and their own colleagues.

Police chiefs revealed yesterday they had reviewed tactics after the Paris attacks in which 130 people died.

Their sole aim will be to shoot the terrorists, who may be wearing suicide vests, before they cause more bloodshed.

Yesterday 17 Metropolitan Police armed response officers were shown putting the tactic to use in a training exercise in central London.

They stormed an empty building which had been made to appear like a shopping centre under attack.

The officers, all volunteers, were told to ignore dummies lying on the ground representing casualties and focus on hunting down the gunmen.

Assistant commissioner Patricia Gallan said: “The decision has to be made, and it is a brave decision, about whether you stand back, in which case you may have more people die, or whether the best thing is to go forward.

“We have been training our officers to go forward.

“That is going forward in the face of firearms and of shots being fired at them as well as potential explosives.”

Ms Gallan said as soon as it was safe ambulancemen and firefighters would treat the casualties at the scene.

She announced more of the Met’s 2,000 firearms officers had been deployed in London since the Paris attacks.

Yesterday it emerged that one of the Paris massacre gunmen had been trained to shoot by the French police.

Samy Amimour, 28, who was at the Bataclan theatre, took a course at a police shooting club in April 2012.
