Driver fakes Xbox delivery

- By BENJAMIN POTTER benjamin.potter@dailystar.co.uk

A DAD was left fuming after a driver apparently pretended to deliver an Xbox he had bought his lad for Christmas.

Paul Kerswill checked his CCTV which showed the driver arriving empty-handed and then driving off.

Paul, 44, discovered the £300 console missing even though the Hermes driver left a note saying he had delivered it.

The dad-of-two had bagged the bargain for 14-year-old son Kurtis from Amazon in a Black Friday deal. But he became suspicious when it failed to arrive. Video footage shows the driver coming to the house to post a note through the letterbox and then sprinting back to his van.

The note said he had left the parcel in a wheelie bin – but it was nowhere to be found.

Paul said: “When I saw the Xbox was gone, I just thought: ‘Surely it hasn’t been taken.’

“We have two cameras in the house so I looked at the CCTV and saw the guy sitting in his van before walking up to the house.

“He doesn’t carry the parcel to the house and he didn’t even go anywhere near the bin.

“He just got out of his van, walked to the front door to post the note and went away.”

A spokesman for Hermes said: “We have suspended this driver with immediate effect while we conduct a full inquiry.

“We would like to apologise to Mr Kerswill and his son for any inconvenience caused.”

Amazon have also provided the dad-of-two, from Hull, with a refund.
