PREMIER LEAGUE COSTA IS A BIB BETTER Smiling Diego happy again

- By GEORGE SCOTT

DIEGO COSTA was all smiles again yesterday as he trained with Chelsea – and this time he kept his bib on.

The sulky striker looked like he was doing his best to get back in Jose Mourinho’s good books following his weekend strop.

Costa was dropped to the bench for Sunday’s goalless draw at Tottenham and showed his disgust by throwing his substitute’s bib towards Blues boss Mourinho.

He looked on better form yesterday though as he trained with his teammates – including fit-again goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois – ahead of Saturday’s visit of Bournemouth.

The champions are 14th after a shocking start to the season and trail leaders Manchester City by 15 points.

Defender Branislav Ivanovic could be on his way out of Chelsea at the end of season, with Inter Milan set to make a bid. Ivanovic is a free agent next summer and can sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign team from January.

The 31-year-old has yet to be offered an extension by Chelsea.

Meanwhile, the Blues have submitted a planning application to rebuild Stamford Bridge into a 60,000-seat stadium at an estimated cost of £500m

The current capacity of their west London home is just 41,600.

Chelsea have played at Stamford Bridge since 1905, with the ground last redeveloped in the 1990s.

Owner Roman Abramovich had been looking to move to a new home, with the idea of expanding their existing ground described by the club as “not feasible or viable” just three years ago.

But with no suitable alternative, the Blues are now opting to rebuild on the 12-acre site rather than move.

Chelsea are now weighing up options for a temporary home while the site is redeveloped, with Wembley and Twickenham both under consideration.
