I GOT very drunk at an office party. I took my knickers off, put them on my head and sang The Wind Beneath My Wings.

My boss was absolutely furious and ordered me to go home.

I slurred back that he was a “miserable old git” and then attempted to snog him.

I woke up the next day at noon feeling like death.

Like a fool I went round to my boss’s house and attempted to apologise.

He wouldn’t open the door and I was sick on his doorstep. Now I feel awful.

He is currently away on business in the Far East and I don’t know where I stand.

I just feel like I’ve let everyone down.

My folks are so proud of me as I regularly help them out with cash and they rely on my handouts.

I know that they’ll be bitterly disappointed if I lose this job.

All I want is the chance to say “sorry” and start over again. JANE SAYS: All you can do is keep your head down, get on with your work and just see what happens when your boss returns from his trip.

Hopefully he will have calmed down by then and be willing to offer you a second chance.

Ultimately, you’ve got to grow up and take full responsibility for your foolish actions.

No one poured that booze down your throat, you chose to get roaring drunk and now you’re paying the price.

Perhaps it would help if you sent a letter explaining how bitterly you regret over-indulging and being rude.

He’s got to know that he can trust you in an important business situation in the future.
