A TRANSGENDER woman is accused of raping a teenage girl more than 10 years ago when she was a man.

Davina Ayrton was aged about 25 at the time of the alleged attack on the runaway girl in the autumn of 2004.

Ayrton, 34, previously called David, is alleged to have abused the 15-year-old in a garage in Portsmouth.

Portsmouth Crown Court heard that the then schoolgirl claims she was raped as a friend and her boyfriend slept nearby.

She claims she shouted and swore at Ayrton to stop, but her two friends did not wake up.

She said she had “only drunk a can and a half of Foster’s” and had a clear recollection of the events.

She added: “I am fully aware of what happened in that garage.”

The court was told that as a schoolgirl she made a complaint to police in Decem- ber 2004, but had not assisted officers because she was “anti-police” at the time.

A female friend told the court the alleged victim was then a “vulnerable” girl. She said on the night of the incident she was woken up by the girl, who asked her and her boyfriend to “get him out” – referring to the alleged attacker.

She said: “She had woken me up, screaming and crying and asking for help.”

Her boyfriend then “ejected” the man, alleged to be Ayrton, who they had met for the first time that day.

Chris Stopa, prosecuting, has told the court that in 2014 Ayrton, who has learning difficulties, told a worker at the Heywood Sumner House care home in Fordingbridge, Hants, where she lives, about the incident.

Police then contacted the alleged victim, leading to the prosecution. Ayrton denies one charge of rape between October and November 2004. The trial continues. A CHILDREN’S author has been jailed for racially abusing his Muslim neighbours over their loud Ramadan celebrations.

George Vernon, 67, flew into a rage when Farman Farah played music.

He grabbed a hammer and knife and confronted Mr Farah before making threats, Bristol Crown Court heard. Vernon, of Bristol, was jailed for a year after being convicted of several charges, including making a threat to kill.
