‘Drug lollies killed music icon Prince’ 50 TIMES STRENGTH OF HEROIN

- By OLIVER PRITCHARD news@dailystar.co.uk

PRINCE may have died after sucking lollipops laced with a painkiller 50 times stronger than heroin.

It is feared the pop star may have overdosed after becoming hooked on the berry-flavoured sweets which contain lethal drug fentanyl.

It is 100 times more potent than morphine and is normally used by terminal cancer patients because of its highly addictive nature.

US anaesthetist Barry Friedberg said: “If Prince was sucking on fentanyl lollipops his addiction to the drug was out of control.

“Other than strict medical use, berry-flavoured fentanyl lollipops are used by people who want to get high in plain sight.” Prince was found dead in a lift at his Minne- sota mansion in April. It later emerged the 5ft 1in star was addicted to super-strength painkillers for years. It is believed he originally turned to drugs to combat the chronic pain he experienced after suffering a hip injury. He was regularly pictured sucking on lollipops which many now believe were laced with the high-strength painkiller. A senior Hollywood figure said last night: “It has become trendy to walk around at parties like the old TV detective Kojak, with a lollipop stick permanently hanging from their mouths. “At one party recently I saw them being served to guests from silver platters and a lot of people were taking them.” PERIL: Prince with lolly MARIAH Carey looks like she forgot to get dressed properly as she flashes her curves.

The singer, 46, showed off her assets in a tiny black corset with suspenders and a matching leather jacket. She certainly knew how to make a big impression as she appeared at 1 Oak Nightclub in Las Vegas for her debut as a DJ.

Mariah is set to tie the knot with millionaire Australian fiancé James Packer, 48.
