BIRD READY TO FLY HOME

- By SIMON BANKS

BUBBLY BLUEBIRD (9.22) can end trainer Seamus Cahill’s hopes of taking the Puppy Classic at Nottingham tonight.

Cahill, bidding to take the race for the fourth time in six years, is doubly represented by Newinn Shadow and Ballinakil Biddy.

But it is hard to see past Paul Young’s Bubbly Bluebird who has now won six on bounce NICE ONE DANNY TOWNSIDE FIRE COLOURED SONIC TANORA SOBER RETURN RUSSELENA RITA TICK TOCK TIME CUSHIE SAND LOGANS JOY GLYNNSCROSSSPARK LEONA HI BANBAS PRINCESS FREDS WONDER MAYBE GREEN ® and has only been beaten once.

That defeat was in his first race at Romford. The hugely impressive manner of his semi-final victory last week, when he put the race to bed at the first bend, has made him a very warm favourite.

Some firms make him odds on but if you can get anything bigger than evens then grab it.

It is also the final of the Dual Distance Trophy and RAHYVIRA RAZL (8.19) looks good to make the most of a plum draw and the step up in distance from last week’s semi-final.

Charlie Lister’s SIDARIAN RIVA (8.52) is an exciting prospect and can make it two wins from four races as he should get a clear run as the sole wide seed. Tomorrow sees the semi-finals of the Steel City Cup at Sheffield and two of last year’s finalists can land their respective qualifiers and set up a rematch in the final.

Last year’s winner MINGLERS THUNDER (8.58) won his heat easily enough and although his time was not flashy, he will come on for the run as he had been off the track for six months.

Barry Draper’s BALLYMAC MOSSJOE (9.14) loves Sheffield, having won 11 out of 16 there, can land the second semi.

TO TONE STEVE (8.14) rapidly worked his way up the grades from A7 in October last year to winning an A1 in January this year.

Since then he has competed at the highest level. He can land a confidence boosting victory at Romford tonight. 6.28 6.44 7.01 7.16 7.32 7.48 (A5) (A2) (A1) (A2) (A3) (Open)
