TONY SMITH says it’s time Warrington proved they can hack it with the big boys.

Wolves are viewed as one of the game’s heavyweights and won the League Leaders’ Shield last weekend.

They have also won the Challenge Cup three times since 2009 under Smith.

But the biggest prize of the lot, the Grand Final, has always evaded them.

Only Leeds, Wigan, St Helens and Bradford have been crowned champions and Smith admits that has to change.

Success

The Warrington boss said: “We are now considered one of the big clubs but we have not won the big final yet. We would like to back it up with a big one.

“We have won the League Leaders’ Shield twice which is a nice achievement and we have had success in the Challenge Cup, but we’d still like to achieve the Grand Final.”

Warrington’s reward for finishing top after 30 rounds is a home semi-final against fourth-placed St Helens tonight. A victory would give them a third Old Trafford visit in five years, after defeats to Leeds in 2012 and Wigan a year later.

Hull, who play Wigan away in the other semifinal tomorrow, are also out to break their title duck.

They have only appeared in one final, losing to St Helens in 2006, and Smith admits it would be good for the game if Warrington or Hull could win this year.

He said: “It makes it more special when there is a new victor. It is up to us to force our way in.” 8
