Italian job lot for car lovers

-

SIXTY Porsche 911s and 45 Ferraris are among more than 500 cars and boats going under the hammer in a £30million auction.

The collection, described as an “Aladdin’s cave”, was built up by a wealthy businessman before being seized by the Italian government.

The “2,000 Wheels” sale also includes motorbikes, bicycles and even bobsleds.

RM Sotheby’s will flog the lot and their car specialist Augustin Sabati-Garat told us: “We’re delighted to have been selected to bring this incredible collection to market.

“The diversity of the lots is especially exciting, from entry-level sports cars to the rarest and most desirable supercars in the world. These are cars that buyers today want and are actively hunting for.”

Among the Ferraris on sale is a very rare 275GTB model, expected to sell for more than £2m.

There are also 58 Jaguars including 21 E-Types.

More run-of-the-mill motors, including a Volvo XC90, are also on offer.

The auction will be held on November 25-27 in Milan.
