Hot Spurs turning on the style to dazzle fans

HUGO LLORIS claims Tottenham fans are in for a thrill ride because their team are the top flight’s biggest risk takers.

Spurs have built their recent success on being strong at the back and have the Premier League’s best defensive record this season.

But Lloris claims it would be wrong to call them ultra-cautious, claiming they take more risks than anyone.

The Frenchman says it was the way Spurs went hunting in packs to chase down every ball that inspired Sunday’s 2-0 win over Manchester City.

Strong

Lloris said: “Last season we were one of the best defences in the league. It is our basics, to be strong at the back. It does not mean we are a defensive team.

“We take a lot of risks and we try to play as high as possible on the pitch. We try to put pressure on teams, especially in the first half.

“We try to have options, to sometimes play deeper and to counter attack. Football is always about spirit, about the team performance, ® and this was perfect.” Boss Mauricio Pochettino insists his side can compete with anyone when they show the passion and commitment they did against City.

And City boss Pep Guardiola admitted Spurs will be title contenders again after pushing Leicester close last season.

Lloris (right) said: “It is about belief. Everything is possible.

“We try to be very aggressive at the start of the games. We try to put a lot of pressure on the sides and we were rewarded with two goals.

“We have had some great performances at the club.

“Following last season, I think we are still learning. We are a young team, we have a lot of talent. We have some strong basics which help us to get confident in this type of game.

“We were rewarded because we worked so hard.”
