HERRERA OUT TO STOP ROT

Ander’s United fight

- By CHRIS McKENNA

ANDER HERRERA is hoping Manchester United don’t suffer another horror return from international duty.

Jose Mourinho’s men lost three on the bounce against Manchester City, Feyenoord and Watford on their return from the last club break in September.

When they come back from the latest round of games for their countries, United face Liverpool, Fenerbahce and Chelsea.

Another bad run would kill off their Premier League title hopes before the end of October while also leaving them with a mountain to climb to get out of their Europa League group.

Herrera (right) said: “After the last international break we lost three games in a row so we have to avoid that.

“We have to come back very strong. We have to play two very tough Premier League games away at Liverpool and Chelsea and between them Fenerbahce in the Europa League. That is a very important game as well.”

United are currently five points behind leaders City in sixth place following Sunday’s 1-1 home draw with Stoke.

But former Athletic Bilbao midfielder Herrera is not overly concerned.

He said: “When I was in Spain, I ® remember United being eight points ahead of City with only six games to go but they still lost that title. “So in the Premier League, anything can happen. You never know because anything can happen whether you are in front or behind the opponent.” Herrera will be fresh for the return of the Premier League programme as he is not in Spain’s squad for their World Cup qualifiers against Italy and Albania. Instead, he will be spending some time with his feet up like birthday boy Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who was 35 yesterday. Despite his age, the Swedish star has shown no signs of slowing down with six goals already in his United career. Herrera added: “He doesn’t miss one training session. He trains every day at his best trying to get everyone at their highest level. “He is very, very aggressive and demanding but in a good way. He wants to win every training session and he wants everyone with him to win and to keep working, so we are very lucky to have Zlatan with us. “And if you see a game and you didn’t know Zlatan’s age, you would think he was only 28 or 29 and that is good for us.”
