Meet soap's sexiest actress

EASTENDERS left its TV rivals trailing at The Inside Soap Awards last night.

The Albert Square show swept up five gongs at the bash.

Jacqueline Jossa, who plays Lauren Branning, was overjoyed to win soap’s sexiest female. She beat off competitio­n from sexy rivals Kym Marsh, Gemma Atkinson and Jennifer Metcalfe. EastEnders also grabbed the awards for best actor, won by Steve McFadden, and best actress, which went to Lacey Turner.

Meanwhile the BBC soap’s Tameka Empson was named funniest female, and best exit went to Dame Barbara Windsor.

Dame Barbara sent a message to the party at London’s Hippodrome Casino, saying: “Peggy Mitchell’s exit was wonderful – I really couldn’t have asked for more.”

Emmerdale got best soap. It is the second year running that the ITV show has won the trophy.

And the cast were rewarded with four triumphs. Amelia Flanagan was named best young actor, Ryan Hawley and Danny Miller were best partnershi­p, and best shock twist was Val dying.

Meanwhile Corrie got four gongs. Connor McIntyre won best bad boy, Joe Duttine funniest male, and Shayne Ward best newcomer, while the 2015 live episode won best show-stopper.

Shayne said: “I’ve been blessed to have such great storylines in the first year that I’ve been here. This just rounds it off.”

Hollyoaks hunk Charlie Clapham won the sexiest male award.
