Cars at snails’ pace...
SNAILS have halted vital work on a killer road.
Safety improvements were planned after drivers plunged to their deaths into dykes on the neighbouring Norfolk Broads. But work on the A47 near Acle has been put on hold so that rare little whirlpool ramshorn snails can be moved.
Local Tory MP Brandon Lewis said the four-year delay was “ludicrous”.
Highways England said the work had to be done “in an environmentally responsible way”.
