ALL THE Aces
COMPOSITION TIME
“Table image” describes the impression that other players have of you, either as a fish, a nit, a tight aggressive player, a maniac, or a chip-gobbling shape-shifter from Hell! “Table composition”, however, describes the mix of all the different table images/player styles at the table and the particular circumstances those players are experiencing and affected by in the current session. This combo of energies will often result in certain predominant patterns and dynamics occurring. For instance, in Limit Hold’em games, you might find that your table composition results in frequent hands where everybody just limps in. Maybe most hands involve a raiser and one or two callers. Or perhaps somebody raises and lots of player call to see the flop.
COMPO-TITION TIME
Spotting patterns at your table helps you make the right adjustments so you can profit more and side-step costly losses. For example, in low limit or weary games where everyone is just limping in, you should widen your starting range to include drawing hands like small to medium pairs and suited connectors. You also need to recognise that, in a big multiway, the value of premium hands goes down. If you’ve got Ace-King (or even Aces, Kings, or especially Jacks), but lots of callers – you should be careful. Don’t stay married to your cards, as it’s easy to get beaten by two pair, a set or better on coordinated boards! Just another of the many things winners like You will have to bear in mind while tackling events at “WPT500” in Nottingham later this week!
