Captain acted as the organiser in a new-look back three which looked largely tight, solid and untroubled.

Probably the best right-back in the Premier League. Got forward at every opportunity without neglecting his defensive duties.
ERIC DIER .............. 6
Did a good job of breaking up play and even forced one good save. But slow to close down Podolski for his screamer.
JAKE LIVERMORE .. 7
Debutant started well. Tried to play forward whenever he could and didn’t look out of place at all. Promising.
RYAN BERTRAND .. 6
Always seems to make his run at the right time. Rarely caught out of position and never looked under real pressure.
ADAM LALLANA .... 7
Hit the post after a superb interception and driving run. Gave the German back four no peace at all.
DELE ALLI ............... 8
In fine form for Spurs. Should have scored in the first half. Slipped in a couple of nice throughballs and pressed his defenders well.
JAMIE VARDY ....... 6
Looked bright and lively. Pace caused problems but had few clear-cut chances. Terrible dive in the first half.
