Shakespeare aims to write name into history books

CRAIG SHAKESPEARE says he is not getting carried away at the chance of joining the Premier League’s list of superstar bosses.
Leicester’s caretaker manager stands just 90 minutes away from making his mark in history.
Victory over Stoke would mean he is the first-ever English boss to win his first four Premier League games in charge.
And he would also follow an elite band of foreigners to do it – Jose Mourinho, Guus Hiddink, Carlo Ancelotti and Pep Guardiola.
Shakespeare hopes that could be an omen as they are all Champions League winners and Leicester take on Atletico Madrid for a place in the semi-finals later this month.
“To even be mentioned in the same breath as those guys is unbelievable,” said the Foxes boss. “Yes, it’s been a dream start, I’d be stupid to say otherwise.
Fired
“But I think there needs to be a bit of humility thrown in there with that.
“It’s an indication of how well everybody at the club has done. It’s very pleasing but we all have to remember that it’s not so long ago that our form was being questioned.”
Three consecutive wins have fired the Foxes clear of immediate trouble after their dramatic slide towards the relegation zone.
But Shakespeare claims anyone thinking that they are out of trouble could be in for a rude awakening.
He added: “We are not safe yet. There are a lot of twists and turns to come yet and we are living proof of that.”
Skipper Wes Morgan is facing a race against time to be fit for the Champions League clash in Madrid.
The centre-back definitely misses the Stoke game with a back problem and is rated doubtful for Tuesday’s home clash with Sunderland.
Shakespeare said: “It’s a nerve problem. We’re trying to let nature run its course. He’s touch and go for Tuesday at the moment.”
