A HEARTBROKEN teenager whose mum and brother were butchered in their home visited the scene of the crime yesterday.

Lydia Wilkinson, 18, looked at flowers and read messages of support from friends and neighbours.

The Bristol University student lost her mum, Tracey, 50, and brother Pierce, 13 in the attack on Thursday.

Her dad Peter, 47, remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital after sustaining stab wounds.

Flanked by boyfriend Will Thompson, Lydia said: “Our family is devastated at the loss of Tracey and Pierce. They were extremely loved by all of ® their family and friends. Pierce was a fun-loving, friendly and happy boy, who loved computer games and made everyone smile.

“Tracey was loving, caring and a wonderful mother and daughter, always putting others before herself.”

Lydia also confirmed reports that the family had been helping a homeless man in the year before the attack but dismissed rumours that he lived with them.

She added: “The family would like to express their gratitude to the emergency services, and to thank hospital staff for their excellent care.

“We would appreciate privacy and respect during this distressing time.” Distraught Lydia’s boyfriend Will hugged her as she admired the flowers, balloons and gifts outside her home.

Tracey was pronounced dead at her home in Stourbridge, West Mids, after the emergency services were called at 8am on the day.

Pierce died shortly after being taken to hospital.

Homeless Aaron Barley, 23, who has been charged with the murder of Tracey and Pierce, is due to appear at Birmingham Crown Court today.

He is also accused of one count of attempted murder.

Barley was arrested a short distance from the scene after police chased him in a car.
