THE suicide bomber who killed 14 people in Russia’s terror attack was a sushi chef who never went to prayers.

Body parts identified Akbarzhon Jalilov as the man behind Monday’s deadly plot in St Petersburg.

Horror pictures emerged after his home-made explosive blew up a train travelling between two central stations, injuring at least a further 50.

The 22-year-old martial arts fan, from Kyrgyzstan in central Asia, had lived in the Russian city for six years.

Photos on his social media account showed him with friends in a bar and smoking a hookah pipe.

His uncle, Eminzhon Jalilov, claimed he went to the mosque but insisted he was “not a fanatic”. However, his social media accounts had links to hardline branches of Islam.

And former friend Ali Matkarimov said Jalilov was “not even saying his prayers” when they worked together in the city in 2013.

CCTV captured him strolling through the station wearing a red parka and backpack.

His DNA was later found on a similar bomb propped up against a wall at another central metro hub, Ploshchad Vosstaniya. Describing the bloodbath at Technology Institute station, one witness said: “People were bleeding, their hair burned.

“My girlfriend was in the next car that exploded. When she came out, she saw that people were mutilated.”

Train driver Alexander Kaverin said: “There was a bang and dust. I made the decision according to the rules for such emergencies to continue on to the next station.”

Hero mum Irina Medyantseva, 50, was killed while using herself as a human shield to save her daughter.

The doll-maker leapt on Yelena, 29, saving her life. She was in intensive care last night.

Maxim Arishev, 22, from Kazakhstan and Kseniya Milyukova, 18, were also named as victims.

And Dilbara Alieva, 20, from Azerbaijan, died from injuries at hospital after the terror attack.

Hundreds of thousands of central Asians live in Russia in desperately poor conditions. The Islamic State terror group have been known to recruit jihadi soldiers from the region with promises of a better life.
